Lucerne (alfalfa)

Lucerne is high in nutritional benefits for both sheep, goats and cattle.  Lucerne has extra benefits such as Nitrogen fixing which improves the quality of the soil. It is a hardy plant that has deep roots that dry out soil which allows the soil to hold more water when there is more available, which in turn helps reduce soil erosion. Lucerne can be used as a pastureland or can be cut, baled and stored for use at a later stage. It is also a cash crop that can be sold.
